The beginning of the Dudjom New Treasure Dharma Lineage can be traced back to the Dharmakaya Buddha - Samantabhadra. Flowing from Samantabhadra (the Dharmakaya realm), Vajrasattva (the Sambhogakaya realm) and Garab Dorje (the Nirmakaya realm), it then continued in uninterrupted succession through Manjushrimitra, Sri Singha, Guru Padmasambhava and Lady Yeshe Tsogyal to Dudjom Lingpa (the 1st Dudjom). Dudjom Lingpa's heart disciple Gyurme Ngedon Wangpo transmitted it to Dudjom Rinpoche (the 2nd Dudjom), who then in turn passed it on to his son Dunge Thinley Norbu Rinpoche. Having received them from his father, it is Dungse Garab Rinpoche who now holds the two lineages : blood lineage and the Dharma lineage.
Dudjom Rinpoche once said, "Dudjom New Treasure is a precious and rare lineage; it is infact the heart essence of Dakinis." It is very close and direct and its blessings are extremely powerful, therefore called a "warm" lineage. The contents of its sadhanas are concise and complete and provide systematic level to level essential oral instructions. All these are reasons why Dudjom New Treasure is valued as a gem of contemporary Vajrayana and the golden key to rapid enlightenment.
Dudjom New Treasure is the heart essence of Dakinis and because the transmission is very short, the breath of the Dakini lingers on, containing enormous pure blessing power. the Dharma activities will spread wide and those who practise it will enjoy abundant success in wordly activities and wealth. If they keep thier samaya vows, eventually all thier obstacles and obscurations will be destroyed and liberation is attained. During the time of Dudjom Rinpoche the second, the teachings of Dudjom New Treasure not only flourished in India, China and Tibet, but also spread widely in the west. Retreat centres were built in countries like France and the US. Especially in the remote areas of Bhutan, practitioners in the mountains only knew the teachings of Dudjom New Treasure. Such great influence of the Dudjom New Treasure teachings was naturally difficult to maintain after Dudjom Rinpoche's passing into parinirvana. Thus at the tender age of 19 Dungse Garab Rinpoche took up the heavy responsibility to revive the spread of Dudjom Lineage
